Why use the Loan Matching Tool?

- Compare easily: View lenders’ ranges, rates and required documents side-by-side.
- Saves time: Instead of visiting many lender pages, get the best matches in one place.
How to use it (step-by-step)
1. Choose the loan type
Pick the purpose: Personal, Business, or SME. This filters lenders that offer the right product.
2. Enter the amount you need
Type the exact amount or use the slider. Be realistic — smaller, accurate amounts give better matches.
3. Enter your monthly income
This helps the tool estimate whether the monthly repayment will be manageable for you.
4. Select BVN availability (Yes / No)
Some lenders require a BVN. If you don’t have one, the tool will exclude lenders that need it.
5. Pick a repayment term (months)
Shorter terms mean higher monthly payments; longer terms reduce monthly cost but may increase total interest.
6. Click “Find My Loan”
You’ll immediately see matched lenders with their loan range, interest-rate bands, and quick actions like “Apply” or “Compare.”
What the results show
Each match card includes:
- Lender name and logo — so you can recognize the brand.
- Loan range (minimum → maximum) — shows if your amount falls within their offering.
- Interest rate range — expected annual rates.
- Quick actions — apply link or compare two lenders side-by-side.
- Required documents & BVN requirement — what you’ll need to apply.
How results are calculated (simple, honest explanation)
We keep the math transparent so you understand recommendations.
1. Filtering by eligibility
A lender is shown if:
- The lender offers the selected loan type.
- Your requested amount falls between the lender’s minimum and maximum amounts.
- Your income meets the lender’s minimum income requirement.
- Your chosen repayment term is supported by the lender.
- If the lender requires BVN and you don’t have it, that lender is excluded.
2. Affordability check (what it does)
We estimate your monthly repayment and compare it with a safe portion of your income (for example, 36%). If estimated monthly repayment is higher than that portion, we warn you that the loan may be unaffordable.
Two calculation methods commonly used:
Simple estimate (fast)
- Pick an interest rate (a representative rate from the lender’s range).
TotalRepay = Principal × (1 + APR × TermYears)MonthlyRepay = TotalRepay ÷ TermMonths
Standard amortized payment (more exact)
- Monthly rate
r = APR / 12 MonthlyRepay = P × r / (1 - (1 + r)^-n)- where
P= principal,n= number of months
- where
We use a conservative estimate so you don’t end up with surprise repayments.
Practical example (quick)
- Requested amount: ₦200,000
- Term: 12 months
- APR (example): 15% per year
Simple estimate:
Total repay = ₦200,000 × 1.15 = ₦230,000 → Monthly ≈ ₦19,167
Amortized (more accurate):
Monthly ≈ ₦18,080
If your monthly income is ₦50,000 and the safe threshold is 36% (₦18,000), the tool will warn you because monthly repayment (~₦18,080–₦19,167) is right at or above the limit.
Tips for smarter matching
- Be honest about income. Overstating income can lead to bad matches.
- Choose realistic terms. If monthly cost is high, try extending the term (if available) to lower monthly payments.
- Compare two lenders. Use the compare feature to check interest range, documents, and term flexibility.
- Check required documents early. Prepare IDs, statements or BVN to speed up applications.
Common questions (FAQ)
Q: Will this affect my credit score?
A: No. The matching process is a local recommendation — it does not perform credit checks. Applying to a lender may trigger checks by that lender.
Q: Do I need to give my email or phone?
A: No — you can see instant results without sharing contact info. Only provide your email if you want to save results or receive follow-up offers.
Q: How accurate are the monthly repayment estimates?
A: They are conservative estimates meant to guide decisions. For exact repayment schedules, use lenders’ official calculators or request a formal quote.
Q: Why did I get no matches?
A: Your requested amount or term may be outside lenders’ available ranges, or your income may be below required minimums. Try adjusting amount or term.
